The Dutch designer Richard Hutten, working in Rotterdam, is quite known in The Netherlands, but famous in Japan. He is being held on streets by people asking his autograph. He was invited for instance to create and decorate a design school of 10.000 square meters within an enormous complex in Seoel, the teaching program included. For this project he invited others to cooperate.
About his designs he simply declares 'I want to keep them simple' and it is not his intention to create 'beautiful' objects. He designed amongst others for
the Gemeentemuseum and the G.E.M. in The Hague, the Centraal Museum in Utrecht and has work in many collections, like the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. |
