Polat is known as a socially engaged photographer and artist, his work often traverses the social barriers existing in todays multicultural society. His admiration for the great photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson can be explained in this well-known quote;” It is not about photography, it is about life.” Ahmet sees photography as an abstraction, it freezes time and creates a framework for a personal reality. He is not searching for sensation, but rather the quiet simplicity in everyday scenes. There is a recognizable tension in the framing and space allocation of his prints that creates a certain but perceivable distortion of ordinary situations.
He won the 2nd price - Silver camera In 2007 he received the price as 'a young and promising photographer' - International Center for Photography in New York City |
