In the work of Karin Arink the daily intimacy of life and proximity to others plays a big part. Both the positive and the negative effects of a relationship; the access to the other. Love, openness, willingness, passion, losing yourself in the other, but also the doubt and fear of it ending, of loss and being left alone. This inner conflict occurs within relationships but also within the self. The theme of her art is that of the human ability to change and adapt, yet at the same time there is powerlessness and intangibility. Her recent work at RAM is a good example of this.
