Luc Deleu/T.O.P. Office, whose work has been on show regularly at RAM since 1988, have been awarded the Prize of the Flemish Community for Fine Art 2012-2013. The award laurels an individual of organization who made a significant contribution to the cultural landscape of Flanders during the past season.
The jury commends T.O.P. Office highly for their “uncompromising manner, contrary line of thought and singular formal language that appeals to ever new generations of artists, designers and architects”. Deleu’s ideas about life in the city, conscious consuming and architecture on a global scale – ‘orbanism’ instead of urbanism – are still applauded by new generations. Deleu en Gillemot already established their design office in 1970. Interweaving artistic practice, design practice and fundamental research.
T.O.P. Office have been exploring the boundaries between fine art, architecture and urbanism since that time. |
